The Dezi Grant Scholarship Award was established in 2013 after the sudden passing of one of our ABC MD/DC Chapter members, Desiree L. Grant. In addition to being the owner of Perfectly Planned Weddings and Events, she was a dedicated member who always strived for excellence in everything she did. Whether it was ABC meeting participation, attending mixers and networking events, planning weddings/events, being on various committees, or continuing her education, you could always depend on Dezi to lend a helping hand. Even when faced with financial burdens herself, she would always find a way to ensure that if anyone wanted to come to an ABC meeting they could. Whether that person needed assistance with the meeting cost or transportation, she made a way for them. That's how you knew she was a dedicated member. She believed in ABC, its leadership, its members, and its values. She was a proud member!
ABOUT THE DEZI GRANT SCHOLARSHIP
The Dezi Grant Scholarship Award covers the cost of registration for the ABC Annual Conference. The scholarship recipient is then responsible for their airfare and hotel/resort accommodations.

In April 2020, our beloved member, Victoria TenEyck, passed away. Victoria was an Accredited Wedding Planner and owner of Simply Divine Weddings and Events. She was a very dedicated member of ABC and it bought her joy to share her expertise with other members. She was an author and speaker. In November 2019, she was a speaker at the ABC Annual Conference in The Bahamas. She was passionate about many things but she was very passionate about her family and bringing awareness to autism.
Through our fundraising efforts, we want to continue to support her work in autism awareness by making an annual donation in her memory to One World for Autism, a charity that was near and dear to her.
The House of Ruth, a non-profit organization that serves women and children who are victims of domestic violence and abuse and are homeless. In 2018, we hosted a Toiletries and Purse Drive for this organization, and in 2019 we collected personal items for residents of the organization.
2018 & 2019
This outreach project allowed us the opportunity to collect gentle used formal attire to distribute to deserving students who needed our assistance.
We partnered with The Right Fit, Inc. which provides formal and business attire at little to no cost to students in DC, Maryland, Virginia, and surrounding areas, who are experiencing financial hardship so they can attend prom, special occasions, and be prepared for the workforce.
